Biography
Roman Saini was born on 27 July 1991 in Raikkaranpura village, Kotputli Town, Jaipur, Rajasthan. After completing his primary education, AIIMS started preparing for the entrance examination. He was the youngest person to prepare for the AIIMS entrance exam at the age of sixteen. Roman went to AIIMS to study MBBS.
Family
The Romans belong to the Mali community (Other Backward Classes). His father is an engineer and his mother is a housewife. Roman’s brother Avesh Saini is a pediatrician and his sister Ayushi Saini is a medical student.
Career
Roman began his career as a junior resident doctor of AIIMS. While serving as a doctor, Roman organized medical camps for free in various regions of India. Apart from this, he also saw people struggling for basic facilities. After which Roman decided to go for civil services to contribute significantly to society.
When he was in the second year of MBBS, one of his friends Gaurav Munjal suggested him start an educational portal. Subsequently, Roman collaborated with Gaurav Munjal, Himesh Singh, and Sachin Gupta to form an educational venture called “Unacadamy”. This is quite helpful for students preparing for competitive exams, especially for UPSC candidates. At the age of 22, Roman passed the civil service exam in his first attempt and secured his place in AIR 18. At that time he was one of the youngest candidates in India to pass the exam. After completing training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, the Romans joined Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh as assistant collectors. In the year 2016, Saini also resigned from the post of Assistant Collector to work for “Unacademy”.
Roman teamed up with his team (which included civil servants, teachers, engineers, doctors, and experts in other fields) to create a channel called “Unacademy” on YouTube. In which study materials related to medicine, IT, civil services, and foreign languages are uploaded. After its launch, his video started getting millions of views. Not only this, but it is also said that taking coaching from the channel, more than ten students passed the civil service examinations.
